Terms of Service
Last updated: May 22, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of powerlift.ing (the “Service”), operated by James L. Cowan (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What powerlift.ing is
powerlift.ing is a free, browser-based tool for building and sharing powerlifting training programs. The Service is provided for informational and planning purposes only. It is not medical advice, physical therapy, nutrition advice, or individualized coaching.
2. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for how you train, whether you follow any program created or shared through the Service, and for decisions you make based on information in the Service. You should consult qualified professionals regarding health, injury, or training when appropriate. You use the Service at your own risk.
3. Programs in links (open sharing)
Programs you build may be encoded in shareable URLs. Anyone with a link can view and, in the current product, edit that program in the browser. That open access is intentional. You choose where you post or send links. We are not responsible for who accesses a link you share or for copies others make of your program.
4. No accounts required today
Today, much of the Service works without an account. We may add accounts, paid features, or private programs later. Additional terms may apply to those features when they launch.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to disrupt the site, scrape it in ways that harm availability, upload malicious content through program data, or use the Service in violation of applicable law.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT PROGRAM DATA IN LINKS WILL ALWAYS LOAD CORRECTLY (FOR EXAMPLE, IF A LINK IS TRUNCATED OR CORRUPTED).
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR TRAINING OUTCOMES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50), IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US ANYTHING.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the Service, your programs, links you share, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our intentional misconduct.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the current version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local law applies.
